Chiropractic adjustment rarely causes discomfort. However, patients may sometimes experience mild soreness or aching following treatment (as with some forms of exercise) that usually resolves within 12 to 48 hours.
In many cases, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care may be the primary method of treatment. When other medical conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition.
Doctors of chiropractic may assess patients through clinical examination, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging and other diagnostic interventions to determine when chiropractic treatment is appropriate or when it is not appropriate. Chiropractors will readily refer patients to the appropriate health care provider when chiropractic care is not suitable for the patient’s condition, or the condition warrants co-management in conjunction with other members of the health care team.
Although chiropractors care for more than just back pain, many patients visit chiropractors looking for relief from this pervasive condition. In fact, 31 million Americans experience low-back pain at any given time.
“Dr. Kanz is an excellent chiropractor who not only focuses on your problem area that you come in for but does a full body assessment to make sure everything else is working fine. They have highly trained massage therapists on staff that make you feel comfortable and really work on your problem areas and listen to you. Also the front desk staff is super friendly and always call to remind you of appointments. In the average visit I get a 30 minute massage, good deep adjustment, and e-stim treatment with moist heat. Also they have some really cutting edge technology. Today I had a cold laser/e-stim combination therapy treatment that only took about 5 minutes instead of the usual 10-20 and I feel even better than usual. Plus with my insurance its really affordable. I highly recommend Dr. Kanz if you’re looking for a great chiropractor in Austin.” – Nina Y.
“Dr Kanz and his staff are courteous, professional and patient. To tell you the truth when going there it’s almost like a breath of fresh air. If anyone ever had reservations about going to a chiropractor then this is the man to see. In additional to chiropractic services these people understand and take their time to listen to what the customer needs. I only wish I had the time to go there more often. They are excellent with students as well.” – Debby M.
“I went to Dr. Kanz just last week after twisting something in my neck and pinching some nerves. I was in some of the worst pain of my life. From the moment I called, in somewhat of a panic, everyone in the office was nothing but kind and caring. They fit me in just a few hours after my call and have seen me almost daily since. The office is extremely convenient since I am a UT student and live in west campus. When I went to my first appointment Ruth, Dr. Kanz’s amazing assistant, quickly volunteered to aid me in filling out my paperwork because she noticed I was in pain and wanted to help immediately. April, the massage therapist in the office, has been incredibly critical for my speedy recovery and has allowed for the adjustments to be much less painful and much more effective. I have seen chiropractors before and Dr. Kanz is one of the nicest and most professional I have come into contact with. When I couldn’t help but be in cry in pain my first few visits he was even kind enough to wipe away tears when it was difficult for me to physical move in such a way to do so myself. I would absolutely recommend this office for any spine or muscle issues!” – Leanna S.
